Solar Eclipse 2012

On Sunday, May 20, 2012, the Central Valley experienced a rare solar eclipse.  We didn’t see the “Ring of fire” present with an annular eclipse, but the effect was still spectacular.

The eclipse reached its apex at 6:38 pm.  The daylight became visibly dimmer and the air became noticeably cooler; however, the sun was still impossibly bright to look at with the naked eye.

The sunlight shining through the trees produced small crescent shapes on the ground.
